'It's public safety at risk,' county council member says 

An audit of the King County Sheriff’s Office has found that civilian and internal complaints of officers weren't handled properly and that field supervisors were not acting on complaints or passing them on to the internal investigation unit, which ultimately was unable to do its job.

 Kudos to WA State! It's about time guys... Yeepee- cuz this is just the beginning... I can feel it! I knew sooner or later, the "Good Ones" would finally say- "NO MORE" something is seriously wrong in our state and it's time we FIXED IT~ thank you, all of you, for stepping up to the plate and taking charge of what is a very obvious issue in our state and has been for many years. Just a bit more time and I'm sure THIS will become the issue that is finally realized as a PROBLEM! and that our WA State Women/Girls/Minor Children are suffering one after the other, as WA State turns a blind eye on the problem... Not anymore! This is wonderful progress... I do love my state!

An audit of the King County Sheriff’s Office has found that civilian and internal complaints of officers weren't handled properly and that field supervisors were not acting on complaints or passing them on to the internal investigation unit, which ultimately was unable to do its job.

“It’s public safety at risk,” King County Councilwoman Julia Patterson said at the council hearing, where the report was presented. “If our public doesn’t trust that they will be treated fairly, that they can feel safe alone with a police officer in King County, then they will not rely on the police.”

Patterson said that what stuck out to her in the report was the use-of-force reviews in 2011. Most large cities had well over 100, she said. Chicago had more than 1,000. But King County had only two.

“It would lead the average person to conclude that there are things that are not being reported that should be,” Patterson said.

The auditor, Robert Davis, said it was all about “accountability; you have to be able to hold your supervisors accountable for the role they play as supervisors.”

In one case, the sheriff’s internal investigations unit never investigated deputy Matt Paul after he slammed a man into a wall, causing brain and spinal damage and costing the county $10 million in damages.

Sheriff Steve Strachan, who has been the sheriff for three months, said if that incident happened today, the deputy would be investigated.

Strachan pledged to implement every recommendation from the auditors and make sure any problems, inside or outside the sheriff's office, are reported.

“We've been working on this for some time,” Strachan said. “This provides us a great blueprint to move forward and to build even more momentum to make those changes.”

City confirms Yakima Gang Sgt. resigns, investigation pending

YAKIMA, Wash. -- A sergeant with the Yakima Police Department is no longer on the force after being the subject of repeated internal investigations.

KIMA learned Erik Hildebrand resigned from YPD on Friday. He stepped down before the city decided on any punishment for its latest investigation. We might never know what he was accused of this time.

Erik Hildebrand's resignation ends his more than 15- year career with the Yakima Police Department.

The city opened two internal investigations into his behavior this year. A ruling on one of them was imminent when the former gang unit sergeant turned in his badge for good.

"Prior to the interim city manager actually reaching a decision in regards to the internal investigation the city had received the resignation from Sgt. Hildebrand, Former Sgt. Hildebrand," said Randy Beehler with the city of Yakima.

Seven earlier investigations looked into Hildebrand's actions over a decade. They covered allegations he improperly tased an inmate to having sex with a woman in custody. Last year, investigators checked a complaint that Hildebrand took an 18-year-old girl to a hotel room, got her drunk and slept with her That was never proven. Investigators found Hildebrand broke rules in four of the seven investigations. We wanted to know what happens to the two open investigations.

"They fall into the category of being incomplete," said Beehler. That means the city is no longer looking into them. KIMA put in a request for them. The city is looking into its legal obligations, but we might never get them because he's now a former employee. We called Hildebrand to get his side. He has not responded. However, the Yakima Police Union calls his actions troubling. "It's very unfortunate we have public trust and we are mandated to serve the public," said Gary Jones with the YPPA.

For now, Hildebrand still has his credentials that could give him a chance to be hired in another city It will be up to the state to decide if he keeps them. As for his retirement money, he'll keep what he contributed. YPD said it's working to fill his position with the gang unit. It will be an officer already in the department.

I Will find his A!! and make darn sure that his "New" PD is WELL AWARE!

Tacoma police are searching for a suspect after a Man was sexually assaulted at a park early Monday morning

I find it completely disgusting that when it is just some "guy" who has sexually abused/assualted an every day woman, it's ALL OVER THE NEWS! for days even weeks.. Interviews.. police reports.. victims.. it does NOT STOP... However, when it is a woman reporting that a POLICE OFFICER SEXUALLY ABUSED/ASSAULTED her, it's a different story all together! IF just IF- it makes the news at all, it's a QUICK little "Blurb"... "A Polcie officer was reported for Sexual Abuse- now lets go to weather and traffic" and we never hear anohter word!! And the Police Offciers who are out there Sexually Abusing US, Know full well this is the "norm" in our state, and many other states, so it's a "Free for all"... They know it, and even BRAG about it.. And we wonder why it does not STOP? I DON'T WONDER... I KNOW!
